During this pandemic, uncertainty is all around us, over the economy, employment, finances, relationships, and of course, physical and mental health. Fear and uncertainty can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, and powerless over the direction of your life. It can drain you emotionally and spin you on a downward spiral of endless “what-ifs” and worst-case scenarios about what tomorrow may bring.
It’s important to know that you’re not alone, many of us are in the same boat at this time. No matter how helpless and hopeless you feel, there are steps you can take to dealing with uncertainty during the Coronavirus Pandemic, so you can face the unknown with more confidence and stay positive during the Covid-19 pandemic. As the coronavirus outbreak has shown, life can change suddenly and unpredictably. But there are place’s and organizations that can help. Here are just a few in Hawaii.
Eligible Hawaii renters could receive help with monthly rent, mortgage, HOA and utility payments payments of up to $2,000 per household. $1,500 per household residing in the Counties of Hawai‘i, Maui or Kaua‘i.
The State of Hawai‘i’s Rent Relief and Housing Assistance Program provides assistance to Hawai‘i renters and homeowners who have experienced a reduction in income due to COVID-19. The program provides help with housing payments as well as assistance in financial counseling and loan modification. Funded by the Federal CARES Act, the program is administered by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i. The program covers housing payments due between March 1 and December 28, 2020. Applications are due by December 15, 2020.
H3RC Food Drop is free of charge and is open to all. There are no eligibility requirements. NO ID or financial requirements are needed. To receive food you will be asked to sign in and fill out a quick questionnaire (name, city, # of adults in household, # of children, employment, and whether you receive government assistance).

Free Rapid Response Landlord-Tenant Mediation
Using videoconference, telephone or a secure online platform, an impartial mediator helps owners and tenants discuss options, such as payment plans, temporary rent reduction, deferred payments, and other creative solutions. There is no cost to participate in this mediation.

The “Hawaii Restaurant Card”
Individuals receiving unemployment benefits, will automatically get a $500 “Hawaii Restaurant Card” in the mail. This can be used at any restaurant in the state. No application is needed.
